Co-founder & CEO

Sheetal Shah

Ph.D. Genetics

Sheetal earned her Ph.D. in Genetics from University College London and holds a degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge. Her academic training laid the foundation for a career at the intersection of plant biology, food systems, and applied innovation.

Before co-founding Cosmic Eats, Sheetal held research and innovation roles at global life science companies including Syngenta and Novozymes, where she worked across crop science, microbial applications, and sustainable agriculture.

As CEO of Cosmic Eats, Sheetal leads the company’s commercialization strategy, partnership development, and ongoing research into point-of-need food systems for defense, space, and humanitarian applications.

Co-founder & Chief Science Officer

Angel Turner

M.Ag. Plant Health | B.S. Biology

Angel brings more than 25 years of experience in agriculture, data science, and food systems innovation. She holds an M.Ag. in Plant Health from Clemson University and a B.S. in Biology from Kennesaw State University.

She spent 11 years in R&D at large agricultural companies including Bayer and Monsanto, followed by 16 years as a biostatistician and data scientist designing high-throughput screening pipelines, machine learning models, and field trial systems. Her work spans commodity and specialty crops, spatial modeling, machine vision systems for plant phenotyping, and Bayesian models for yield prediction.

As CSO of Cosmic Eats, Angel led the scientific strategy behind the company’s point-of-need food systems: crop package design, nutrition modeling using USDA FoodData Central, and cultivation system optimization for mushrooms, microgreens, algae, and other specialty crops. She conducted 130+ customer discovery interviews through the NSF I-Corps program.

Cosmic Eats has received funding from DARPA, NASA, and NSF, and advanced two patents under Angel’s scientific leadership.
